Case studyElectricalField equipment
Pace Systems installed and serviced about 90 power and data cabinets for the Illinois Tollway’s toll-collection system.

The field equipment of the toll-collection system needed cabinets to power it and new UPS units, and protection from the heat and cold that could stop it, so Electronic Transaction Consultants, the toll-system integrator, took us on as its electrical and field-services subcontractor.
The system had to keep running around the clock, which meant emergency calls could come at any hour.
We installed about 90 stainless power and data cabinets, rated NEMA 4X against water and corrosion, and replaced the system’s Eaton UPS units, which ran from 3 to 20 kVA.
Alongside the cabinets we put in about 150 heated stainless enclosures and about 200 cabinet air conditioners, and we upgraded about 80 nitrogen-generation units.
We fitted climate-control cabinets with self-diagnostics and a network card, so when a cabinet got too hot or too cold, it alerted dispatch and a technician could be sent out before the equipment failed.
The toll system kept running around the clock, and under our annual service agreements, emergency calls were answered at any hour, including replacing a cabinet when one was damaged.

We’ll quote the equipment and the installation directly, or work as the electrical and field-services subcontractor on an integrator’s job as we did here.
Keep in mind that a quote with installation takes longer than one for standard items.
