Student devices

Laptops are stored at our facility until each school is ready for delivery.

When a district orders setup, each laptop or Chromebook is imaged, asset-tagged and recorded by serial number at one of more than 100 stations in our lab in Naperville. The serial numbers go straight into the district’s equipment register in the Pace Hub, so nobody at the district has to type them in.

If a school isn’t ready for its laptops yet, they simply wait in our 40,000-square-foot building until it is, and then our trucks deliver them school by school. Laptops that don’t need setup go to the district straight from the vendor or the distributor.

Classroom displays

Classroom displays arrive pre-mounted on your selected stand or cart.

Our technicians assemble the Balance Box mobile stands or the carts, mount the displays on them and install them in the rooms, so the teachers don’t have to put anything together themselves.

A district that buys displays and laptops in the same year can have both staged in our warehouse and delivered on our trucks, room by room and school by school.

Wi-Fi and E-Rate

District Wi-Fi bought under E-Rate goes on our SPIN, 143033722.

We supply the access points, switches and firewalls from Cisco and Meraki, Juniper Mist, HPE Aruba, Fortinet and more, and we ship them anywhere in the US. If the district is around Chicago, our crews install the network and run its cabling as well, so one company answers for the whole job.

Safety and security

Around Chicago, our crews install school security and fire alarms.

We install cameras, card access, intercoms, secure vestibules and door hardware in schools under our Illinois alarm contractor license, number 127001360, and we replace fire alarm systems as well. The electricians on those crews are IBEW Local 134 members.

For security reasons, we never publish which school has which system or how a school is protected, and that goes for our case studies as well.

Video surveillance and keyless entry upgrades

We upgraded video surveillance at dozens of schools, and put in keyless staff entry and access-control upgrades at nearly 50.

How districts buy

TIPS and OMNIA Partners let districts buy without a bid.

TIPS members buy from us on contract 230105 for technology and 260202 for security systems, and OMNIA Partners members on contract 01-169. Your business office will know whether a cooperative contract fits the district’s rules, and if none does, the district can simply send us a purchase order.

If your rules call for a bid, we answer districts’ public bids and requests for proposals as well.

Can the laptops be ready before the first day of school?

Yes, we typically prepare district deployments of 1,300 to 1,600 laptops or Chromebooks at a time, using more than 100 workstations in our Naperville lab. Simply include the schools’ required delivery date in your quote request so we can ensure everything is ready on time.

Can the district buy its Wi-Fi under E-Rate?

Yes. Pace Systems is an E-Rate service provider, and our Service Provider Identification Number (SPIN) is 143033722. Districts can purchase Wi-Fi equipment, switches, and firewalls through E-Rate, with installation services also available throughout the Chicago area.

Does Pace put the classroom displays together?

Yes, our technicians assemble the Balance Box mobile stands or the carts, mount the SMART or Promethean displays on them and install them in the classrooms. If the district is around Chicago, our trucks deliver them to each school as well.

Tell Pace which devices the schools need, and by when.

The district’s device list is enough for us to start, and standard items are usually quoted the same business day. If the district already has a quote in hand, ours comes back within one business day.
