A zoned PA system for two buildings

Case studyElectrical
Pace Systems put in the power and controls for 76 SageGlass units at the American Airlines Admirals Club in O’Hare’s Terminal 3.
When the Admirals Club in Terminal 3 was renovated, its window walls became SageGlass electrochromic glazing, which tints electrically so the glass itself manages the daylight, the glare and the heat coming into the lounge.
Each glass unit is individually identified, which means the electrical work had to be coordinated unit by unit and installed to SageGlass’s precise installation and commissioning requirements, all in an active airport.
Working with Mid-States Glass, we installed everything between the glass and its controls, including the raceways, junction boxes and supports, the cabling to all 76 units and the pathway up to the system’s rooftop sensor.
We wired the glass units to five terminal boxes between the two window walls and the controls, so all 76 units work as one integrated system.
Then we commissioned it, which is where the glass, the terminal boxes and the controls are proven to work together, with Terminal 3 running around the lounge the whole time.
Passengers get a more responsive, comfortable lounge in Terminal 3, and we handed over the electrical and control infrastructure already commissioned.
